    WASHINGTON: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned Iran late on Thursday (Jun 13) not to reply to Israeli strikes by hitting American bases, saying Washington was not concerned.

    “We’re not concerned in strikes in opposition to Iran and our high precedence is defending American forces within the area,” Rubio mentioned in an announcement.

    “Let me be clear: Iran shouldn’t goal US pursuits or personnel.”

    Israel announced strikes on Iran, the place loud explosions had been heard, hours after US President Donald Trump publicly mentioned they need to not achieve this.

    Trump had mentioned that Israel would break probabilities for a peacefully negotiated resolution, which he mentioned was shut.

    A sixth round of talks over Tehran’s nuclear programme had been scheduled between america and Iran on Sunday in Oman.

    “Israel suggested us that they consider this motion was crucial for its self-defence,” Rubio mentioned, with out providing help or criticism of the strikes by the shut US ally.

    “President Trump and the administration have taken all crucial steps to guard our forces and stay in shut contact with our regional companions,” he mentioned.
