Fellow liberals, I’ve a petty grievance. At protests, I see a plethora of indicators with cute and intelligent jokes and slogans poking enjoyable at President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. I perceive the necessity for humor to maintain our spirits up. I perceive how humor generally is a thorn within the aspect of those males who take themselves so severely. But when I can’t inform what you stand for and why you’re out on the sidewalk, then somebody much less politically engaged actually can’t.

We should not develop into ourselves part of the cult of Trump (simply on the hater aspect) — as a result of President Trelon doesn’t matter. The forces they embody are ongoing. Over-privatization, company welfare with meager returns and assaults on civil liberties have been enacted to variable extent below different presidents. They’ve accelerated below Trump and the tech oligarchs.

What really issues is checks and balances; voting rights; due course of; entry to justice; cash’s affect in elections; retirement safety; stability of energy; a livable planet; freedom of expression; nationwide safety; transparency; livable wages; and public oversight of well being care, roads, airspace, prisons and faculties.

Can we please make that clearer in our most public messaging?

    Holly Hess, Edmonds
