News media: The power of shared humor

We had an opportunity to see columnist and creator Dave Barry Tuesday evening at City Corridor Seattle. His great wit and humorousness made us notice how a lot we miss him and others (together with Erma Bombeck, Artwork Buchwald) within the paper. Barry reminded us how costly it’s to a newspaper’s finances to have these kind of columns within the paper anymore.

In right now’s divided world, how refreshing it could be to have columns that included shared humor and customary floor, and haven’t any political or hateful rhetoric. A nostalgic thought.

    Susan Mise, Seattle
