    China slams US ‘bullying’ over new chip export controls

    BEIJING: Beijing condemned on Wednesday (Might 21) new US chip export controls as “bullying”, warning it will take steps in opposition to measures aimed toward proscribing Chinese language entry to high-tech semiconductors and provide chains.

    “The US measures are typical unilateral bullying and protectionism, which critically undermine the steadiness of the worldwide semiconductor business chain and provide chain,” Beijing’s commerce ministry stated in a press release.

    Washington final week unveiled recent tips warning companies that utilizing Chinese language-made high-tech AI semiconductors, most notably tech large Huawei’s Ascend chips, would put them prone to violating US export controls.

    The commerce division stated its coverage was aimed toward sharing American AI expertise “with trusted international international locations all over the world, whereas maintaining the expertise out of the palms of our adversaries”.

    Beijing condemned the transfer, accusing the US of “abusing export controls to suppress and include China”.

    “These actions critically hurt the reputable rights and pursuits of Chinese language enterprises and endanger China’s growth pursuits,” the commerce ministry stated.

    It additionally warned that “any organisation or person that enforces or assists in implementing such measures” may very well be in violation of Chinese language regulation.
