The competition, which commemorates a Filipino anti-colonial chief from the sixteenth century, falls this 12 months on the weekend earlier than Canada’s election.

“We will verify 9 individuals have died after a person drove via a crowd eventually evening’s Lapu Lapu Competition,” Vancouver police stated on X.

Police stated earlier they’d arrested a 30-year-old native man who was a “lone suspect” recognized to them.

“Presently, we’re assured that this incident was not an act of terrorism,” Vancouver police stated on X early on Sunday morning.
