France will summon Iran’s ambassador and take “acceptable measures” after Iranian authorities closed a French-language centre linked to its embassy in Tehran, in response to the French International Ministry.
“This new assault towards France’s cultural presence in Iran, following the assault on two workers members of the French embassy final July, is unjustifiable and unacceptable,” International Ministry spokesperson Pascal Confavreux stated in a press release on Sunday.

Iran introduced on Sunday the closure of the centre it accused of conducting “unlawful acts that violated diplomatic conventions”.
“Primarily based on the Tehran prosecutor’s workplace, the unlawful centre affiliated with the French embassy in Tehran, which has operated for years underneath the guise of language instruction, was closed,” the Iranian judiciary’s Mizan information web site stated, referring to the French Language Centre (CLF).
It stated the centre “abused its standing as a language coaching facility” and sought to “establish and construct networks among the many nation’s elite figures whereas facilitating their departure”.
The French International Ministry stated it will “take acceptable measures to reply” and would summon Iran’s ambassador in Paris on the request of French International Minister Jean-Noel Barrot.
Relations between Tehran and Paris have been strained in current months.
In August, Iran’s Intelligence Ministry stated it detained two French diplomats over alleged overseas interference throughout a nationwide safety investigation earlier than handing them over to the French ambassador.
